Rep. Mike Johnson of Louisiana won in a three-round vote late Tuesday to become the next speaker-designee — the fourth since Rep. Kevin McCarthy of California was ousted from the position on Oct. 3. Scalise had been the party's first nominee after McCarthy was ousted, but withdrew his name one day after winning the internal GOP vote. Emmer began to lose support from conservative lawmakers shortly after Trump's missive, and he bowed out of the contest shortly after.
Proudly Representing the 4th District of Louisiana
“This affirms the path that we took,” Representative Bob Good of Virginia, one of the eight Republicans who voted to oust former Speaker Kevin McCarthy, tells reporters. “We went through a lot to get here, but we are ready to govern and that will begin right away,” Johnson says in his first news conference as speaker. Johnson said Republicans would "dispense with all of the usual ceremonies and celebrations” and get to work. “You’re going to see an aggressive schedule in the days and weeks ahead,” he said.
In Johnson, House Republicans Elevate One of Their Staunchest Conservatives
"We continue to look forward to finding bipartisan common ground whenever and wherever possible." The first order of business for the House under the new speaker is to consider a resolution from Texas Rep. Mike McCaul "standing with Israel as it defends itself against the barbaric war launched by Hamas and other terrorists." "I think all the American people at one time had great pride in this institution, but right now that's in jeopardy," he said. Johnson was sworn in as the 56th House speaker soon after winning the vote and delivering a speech to lawmakers in the House chamber. By the same token, Mr. Biden noted that the nation expects House Republicans to work across the aisle with him and Senate Democrats to address "urgent" national security needs and grow the economy.
"We need to move swiftly to address our national security needs and to avoid a shutdown in 22 days. Even though we have real disagreements about important issues, there should be mutual effort to find common ground wherever we can," the president said. "This is a time for all of us to act responsibly, and to put the good of the American people and the everyday priorities of American families above any partisanship." Sources told CNN earlier Wednesday that there was a "big push" to bring the bill to the floor once the House elected a new speaker. The Senate and the White House are still controlled by Democrats and any spending bill passed will need Democratic support to become law and avert a shutdown. But what you hear from conservatives – at least in the minutes before and after Johnson won the speaker’s election – is they are willing to give some room for Johnson to maneuver in his new role. In the case of McCarthy, the role of speaker pro tem fell to his close confidant Rep. Patrick McHenry, R-N.C., the chair of the House Financial Services Committee.

Speaker Johnson on Anti-Israel Protests on College Campuses: Disgusting and Unacceptable
The speaker of the House, under the rules of the chamber, is required to keep a list of individuals who can act as speaker pro tempore in the event a chair is vacated. The list, which is oddly written by the sitting speaker at any given time, remains with the House Clerk and would be made public if the speakership were vacant. The night before Friday’s voting, Rep. Matt Gaetz, R, Fla., who introduced the motion to oust McCarthy, echoed those sentiments, warning against trying to oust Johnson. Additionally, many Republicans in Congress were embarrassed by McCarthy’s removal as speaker, which exposed deep party divisions and infighting, which left their new majority unable to function for three weeks. Greene, who became a McCarthy ally late in his tenure, has been skeptical of Johnson’s speakership from the beginning. While she criticized her fellow far-right colleagues for toppling McCarthy, she herself had warned Johnson for months that she would try to remove him in a similar fashion if he were to push ahead with a package to support Ukraine as it battles Russia’s invasion.
Committee assignments
Exhausted from the feuding, which unleashed a barrage of recriminations and violent threats against lawmakers, both the right wing and mainstream Republicans finally united to elect Mr. Johnson, 51, in a 220-to-209 vote. Mike earned his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Louisiana State University in 1995, and his Juris Doctorate from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University in 1998. During the speaker battle, Trump proved more adept at hurting candidates than helping them win — his early endorsee, Jordan, flamed out on the floor.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene says Speaker Mike Johnson should resign as Democrats signal potential support
McCarthy was in the House for 16 years before he was elected speaker, Pelosi had 20 years of experience, Paul Ryan served for 16 years, and John Boehner had 20 years before he ascended to the top job. He voted against bipartisan legislation to codify same-sex marriage, which Biden signed into law last year. He voted this year in favor of the debt limit law negotiated by McCarthy and Biden. But before that happened Johnson had elicited the signatures of 125 of his Republican colleagues to the letter accompanying the brief—some of them perhaps in response to Johnson’s notification that Trump would be monitoring who signed it. In the immediate aftermath of the election, Johnson advanced the spurious allegation that voting software used in the election was suspect because it had supposedly come from the authoritarian regime that ruled Venezuela. However, it was his later argument—that COVID-19 pandemic–related changes to voting procedures in some states were unconstitutional—that gained steam.
Washington — Rep. Mike Johnson, a Republican of Louisiana, won election as the new speaker of the House on Wednesday, ending three weeks of chaos since Rep. Kevin McCarthy's historic ouster. The House is expected to vote on a resolution in support of Israel on Wednesday afternoon, according to a notice from the House Democratic whip. “The door to the speaker’s office now is open to the members and to the constituents, not just the lobbyists,” Rep. Matt Rosendale told reporters. House conservatives are signaling they’ll give the newly minted House Speaker Mike Johnson some runway and flexibility as the House barrels toward a November 17 spending deadline to fund the government. GOP Rep. Stephanie Bice of Oklahoma is considering a run for conference vice chair – the leadership role previously occupied by now-Speaker Mike Johnson, according to her spokesperson. After three weeks without a speaker, the House voted Wednesday to elect Rep. Mike Johnson of Louisiana.
"We'll be talking about the support and what's necessary to get it," Johnson said. "We have to ensure Vladimir Putin is not successful, and I think all the House Republicans are united in that cause." Turning to Jeffries, Aguilar said the Democratic leader has "never turned his back on the will of the American people." Shortly after 1 p.m., the House began voting for speaker, with Johnson as the Republican nominee and Jeffries as the Democratic nominee. Before the vote in the House, Johnson said he had not spoken to the president, but said he assumed he would soon.
He also opposed legislation to mandate federal recognition for same-sex marriages — a bill that passed with strong bipartisan support in both the House and the Senate. “Experts project that homosexual marriage is the dark harbinger of chaos and sexual anarchy that could doom even the strongest republic,” he wrote in one such article in 2004. On Nov. 8, 2020, Mr. Johnson was onstage at a northwest Louisiana church speaking about Christianity in America when Mr. Trump called. Mr. Johnson had been in touch with the president’s team on his myriad legal challenges seeking to overturn the results, “to restore the integrity of our election process,” according to a Facebook post by Mr. Johnson recounting the exchange. After a mob of Mr. Trump’s supporters, believing the election was rigged, stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6 and injured about 150 police officers, Mr. Johnson condemned the violence.
He noted that Democrats provided support for legislation to raise the debt ceiling, avoid a government shutdown and provide disaster relief funding. Speaking after the vote, Johnson vowed to hit the ground running and get the House back to work. A government shutdown is fast approaching, and the White House has requested a $106 billion emergency aid package for Israel, Ukraine and other priorities. Johnson now faces a daunting list of challenges, with a fast-approaching government shutdown chief among them. The House is staring down a deadline of Nov. 17, when current government funding expires. In his blueprint for the next few months, Johnson said a stopgap measure extending funding until January or April may be needed to approve more spending and avoid a shutdown.

Another Republican joins effort to oust Johnson, putting the speaker in real peril.
According to CNN, Johnson serves on the Judiciary Committee and the Armed Services Committee. He is also the vice chairman of the Republican House Conference and holds an assistant leadership role as GOP deputy whip. The Louisiana congressman’s ascent to the speakership is one of the fastest in history and comes at a pivotal time for the legislature.
Johnson soon became a member of the president’s inner circle, regularly joining the entourage that flew with the president on Air Force One. When Trump was first impeached (December 2019) as a result of the Ukraine scandal, Johnson was a member of his defense team for the impeachment trial by the Senate. I was called to legal ministry and I’ve been out on the front lines of the “culture war” defending religious freedom, the sanctity of human life, and biblical values, including the defense of traditional marriage, and other ideals like these when they’ve been under assault. The society that runs it certainly wants us to think so—haunted house tours and a popular interactive play capitalize on the 1929 scandal in which the owner of the mansion, oil heir Ned Doheny, died in a mysterious murder-suicide with his boyhood friend and employee. Doheny’s father was mired in the Teacup Dome Scandal at the time, and the deaths meant that he was excused from testifying; rumors also abounded that Ned, who was married with children, was trying to cover up a same-sex affair.
In a letter to colleagues earlier Wednesday, Johnson outlined his first priority will be trying to pass the remaining spending bills that have so far languished in the House one by one. The House is now voting to pass a resolution in support of Israel in the war against Hamas – the first measure to come to the floor to be passed after Speaker Mike Johnson was elected this morning following three weeks of a speakerless-House. The House passed a resolution in support of Israel in the war against Hamas – the first measure to come to the floor after Speaker Mike Johnson was elected earlier Wednesday following three weeks without a speaker. The new speaker played a pivotal role in congressional efforts to overturn the 2020 election and opposes abortion rights and gay marriage.

Stagecoach 2024: How to stream Morgan Wallen, Miranda Lambert and other sets at home
The 2024 Goodspeed season ends Nov. 1 through Dec. 29 with the holiday show “A Christmas Story, The Musical.” The show has been around since 2009 and is based on the 1983 movie (based in turn on a short story by humorist Jean Shepherd) about a boy who wants a BB rifle for Christmas. The music and lyrics are by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, who later became famous for the Broadway hit “Dear Evan Hansen” and the movie “The Greatest Showman.” Paul grew up in Fairfield County, where he still lives. He served as artistic director of the Victory Gardens Theater in Chicago from 2011 to 2020. A noteworthy absence from the list of directors is Jenn Thompson, who has directed six shows at the Goodspeed Opera House since 2016, including “Gypsy” this year. Ruggiero has directed a dozen shows previously at the venue, but “Drood” will be the first show he’s done there since “A Grand Night for Singing,” the Rodgers & Hammerstein revue that was the first show in the Opera House after COVID in 2021. The three day festival spotlights new works through seminars, cabarets, staged readings, and more.

Goodspeed’s The Mystery of Edwin Drood Announces Cast.
The Opera House was originally built by a local merchant and banker, William Henry Goodspeed. Despite the name, it was not in fact an opera house, but rather a venue for presenting plays. After William Goodspeed's death in 1882, the opera house fell into disrepair, facing a series of less glamorous uses—from a militia base during World War I to a general store and a Department of Transportation storage facility.
World Premiere Holiday Event
The musical is based on an unfinished mystery novel by Charles Dickens. The show’s creator Rupert Holmes had fun with the “unfinished” concept by writing several different possible endings. The Goodspeed production will be directed by Rob Ruggiero, a frequent director there who is also the producing artistic director of TheaterWorks Hartford. Goodspeed’s beginnings date back to 1963 when we opened our doors as a professional musical theatre in an historic building on the banks of the Connecticut River in East Haddam.
Over the past 61 years,Goodspeed has sent 21 shows to Broadway, launched 85 world premieres, anddelighted more than 5.3 million patrons. Our dedication to supporting new workand fostering voices at the forefront of the industry is a key part of ourmission. From our commissioning program, GoodWorks, to world premieres and allthe steps in-between, our commitment to the development of new musicals is oneof the strongest in the nation. One use foreseen for the theater would be as a different kind of preview house. “Our focus would be to use it as a tool to develop projects for film and TV,” said Robert Norton, Harmony Gold’s executive vice president of legal and business affairs, adding that stage productions are a “relatively inexpensive” way to test film and TV ideas.
The Arts Education Collaboration provides art-education programs for underserved Connecticut youth. The Festival of New Musicals features students from the Hartt School and the Boston Conservatory performing staged readings of three brand new musicals, industry-related seminars, a symposium and cabaret performances. Each winter, Goodspeed also hosts the Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Grove that invites musical theatre writing teams to retreat from daily life for a four week residency and concentrate solely on writing new musicals. In addition, Goodspeed serves as a resource for the preservation of the art form through our Scherer Library of Musical Theatre, the second most extensive musical theatre research library in the United States. The first day, March 17, will feature a staged reading of Madeline Myers' musical Double Helix, which explores the life and struggles of scientist Rosalind Franklin, whose contributions to the discovery of DNA's structure were looked over by her male colleagues following her premature death.
Like this past season, there will be four musicals, one of them Christmas-themed. Two of the shows are well-known musical theater classics, one is a popular show from more recent times and the fourth is a brand new show having its world premiere. The Goodspeed campus will continue to serve as a thriving artist colony where the creative process informs the work on our stages and expanding educational programs. We aspire to serve as a safe haven where a singular commitment to discovery and innovation will enrich the field with the next generation of musical theatre artists.
Theater review: A hope-filled 'Dreamgirls' at Goodspeed Opera House - Hartford Courant
Theater review: A hope-filled 'Dreamgirls' at Goodspeed Opera House.
The Goodspeed Opera House, under the direction of Michael P. Price, is dedicated to the preservation of the heritage of the American musical and the development of new works. Still, L.A.’s big new musicals, “Grand Hotel” and “City of Angels,” weren’t doing as well. The former grossed only about one-third of its potential that week, while the latter grossed only about one-half of its potential. A collection of four one-acts by Renee Taylor and Joseph Bologna, “Lovers” played briefly on Broadway in 1968, but it became best known from the movie version released in 1970.
Learn More About the Goodspeed Musicals Experience
Under the direction of Michael Price from 1968 to 2014, Goodspeed transformed from a struggling entity into a non-profit arts organization with a mission. At first, Goodspeed’s commitment was to discover rarely produced musicals from the repertoire, reworking them and bringing them to life. We were also intent on adding to the repertoire by discovering and nurturing promising new musicals presented at both the Opera House and the Norma Terris Theatre in neighboring Chester. The Goodspeed Opera House has announced its 2024 season, which will run from May to December.
In our history, we have produced over 250 musicals, including over 70 world premieres, and exported 21 productions to Broadway. Goodspeed stands as the first regional theatre in America to earn two special Tony Awards, one in 1980 for outstanding contributions to the American musical and a second in 1995 for distinguished achievement for a regional theatre. "The Festival is a key part of Goodspeed’s new works development program and we invite all musical theatre fans to join us." Doing just three musicals per season at the Opera House, each running for two months or more, has been the standard for most of the theater’s 60-year history. But under Donna Lynn Hilton, who became the theater’s artistic director during the COVID shutdown, once the Goodspeed Opera House was able to do full seasons again there have been four-show seasons. The season begins with “The Mystery of Edwin Drood” from April 5 through June 2.
The second show in the season is Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “South Pacific,” which was scheduled for the 2020 season (with the sets already being constructed and rehearsals about to begin), then again for 2021 but was continually postponed due to COVID. The director at that point was Ruggiero, but now “South Pacific” (which contains the songs “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Out of My Hair” and “One Enchanted Evening”) has been entrusted to Chay Yew. Please allow extra time when coming to the theatre, especially for matinees. Producer April Shenandoah said she hopes to open around Valentine’s Day, in keeping with the “lovers” theme, and rotate celebrities in and out of various roles in the play, a la “Love Letters,” during an open-ended run.
Get ready to swing back in time as Ivoryton Playhouse has announced the upcoming production of Swingtime Canteen, the second show in its 2024 season. The Goodspeed Opera House was built in 1876 on the Connecticut River in East Haddam, Connecticut. Since it was restored and reopened in 1963, three musicals ave been produced each season, both revivals and new works. At its nearby Norma Terris Theatre, a unique season of four new musicals is presented each year.
Goodspeed Musicals’ mission is to share the joy ofmusical theatre; to delight, inspire, and challenge audiences; to nurturecreators; and to build and support a broad, diverse, and inclusive community. The theater itself is actually located on the top two floors of the building, making for interesting and sometimes difficult scenery and show load-ins. Scenery is loaded-in from the dock area up a vacant elevator shaft that is now outfitted with a winch system to haul the scenery up to the stage level. Much care has to be taken in order to get the scenery up the shaft without scratching or ruining the scenery.
With opening windows and a full-size door, this is a luxury coop for larger flocks. With 100 square feet of floor space, it’s one of the more difficult plans to build. Read on to see how we put together our backyard chicken coop. This post shows you generally how we did it and includes a link to the coop plan we used.
Coop De Doop
It holds about 10 chickens and is a good choice if you want a farmhouse-themed design and have a medium sized flock. The Hen Haven is a true paradise when it comes to chicken homes. It is spacious and tall enough to stand inside of, and has a full-sized door and windows for easy access and cleanup. It also has an enclosed run where the chickens can safely roam in the sun. Overall, this is a great design if you live in hot climates because of its good ventilation and fan. One unique thing about this coop is its covered interior.

The mainframe is built using pallets – quite a unique and quick way to build a coop. This small cube-shaped coop looks like a miniature cottage. The windows are framed with little shutters, and there is an exterior nesting box to allow for easy collection of eggs. The Nest Egg is suitable for a medium-sized flock of chickens. It has a floor space of 38 square feet and has a full-sized entrance door. The external nesting box is double-tiered to make the most of the space.
Permanent Hoop Coop from Chook-A-Holic
This chicken coop can be attached to a run, although the plan for the run itself is not included here. I gathered 61 of the best-looking, easiest-to-build, or the cheapest chicken coop plan available so YOU too can build it by yourself. There are a lot of free chicken coop plans on the internet. In fact, BackyardChicken alone (one of the biggest online chicken owner communities) has more than 3,000 of them, submitted by the members. For most people with basic woodworking skill, building a chicken coop isn’t really that hard.
What follows are tales of six urban homesteaders and how they personalized their chicken coops, in budgets that ranged from $750 to $14,000. In a city obsessed with design and indoor-outdoor living, it makes sense that some chicken owners want to house their pets in high-style comfort. Midcentury Modern architecture and Japanese shou sugi ban wood exteriors.
You could have a lot of fun customizing your coop with special colors or designs painted on the outside. Battery systems keep chickens confined to cages, typically in large barns or warehouses. The cages are stacked on top of each other, with a system of feeding and watering tubes that supply food and water to the chickens. Battery systems are often used in commercial poultry farming, as they allow for efficient use of space and resources. However, they are also criticized for their lack of animal welfare and the cramped conditions in which the chickens are kept, so we will not be discussing them in this article.
Chicken Coop Checklist (Before you Start Building!)
If you are still unsure about using DIY chicken coop plans, you may have more questions that need addressing. The following should help give you enough confidence to try one of the above plans. It has materials lists, 3D elevations, diagrams of the framing, and step-by-step pictorial instructions.
The coop is also insulated, which is ideal for cooler climates. This monster of a coop has three rooms – two large rooms at either end and one small room as you first walk in. In the 160 square feet of floor space, you could house over 25 chickens, so it’d make a perfect coop for a large flock. This 96 square foot coop has both a full-size door and a chicken door at either end.
Budget-Friendly Chicken Coop
The open concept of this coop allows for plenty of air movement but may only be feasible in warmer climates. This little beauty is a chicken cottage complete with a white picket fence. It’s big enough for 10 chickens, and the cedar shingles used on the outside of the coop can be painted to any color palette you desire. We love the windows covered in hardware cloth to keep out predators and pests, as well as the fact that the chicken coop is raised up off the ground. This feature keeps diggers like rats and foxes from getting access to the coop. The plans includes everything you need for not only getting the build right, but making it an easy coop build as well.
This large 128 square foot coop is easier to build and can house more than 25 chickens. I cannot read and execute building plans to save my life, yet I have built a total of 8 coops so far, with more to come. The chickens don’t care if the corners aren’t square or it is not the prettiest building in town – it is draft-free, dry, and keeps them safe and warm. When Ilse Ackermann describes herself as a “chicken consultant to the stars,” her tone is tongue-in-cheek. By contrast, the coop’s black charred exterior makes a statement in an orchard filled with colorful native plants and edibles.
A bottomless house that sits on grass and is moved daily. It does not require cleaning as you are leaving behind the chicken waste from yesterday when you move the chicken tractor. A chicken tractor usually has wheels or skids making them easy to move. They are often used in small-scale or backyard poultry farming, as they require less space and can be easily managed by a single person. A chicken tractor for meat birds can be open, where a chicken tractor for layers needs to include a little coop where the hens can lay their eggs and roost at night. Whatever the chicken coop design you have dreamed, make sure to consider these six elements and your chickens will have a safe and healthy home.
This Wichita Cabin Coop is a small, simple, and easy-to-use coop – perfect for a small backyard flock. It will house up to 6 chickens and one of the more difficult plans packs we feature. It has an external nesting box and a slanted roof, which gets lower toward the back.
The second show in the season is Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “South Pacific,” which was scheduled for the 2020 season (with the sets already being constructed and rehearsals about to begin), then again for 2021 but was continually postponed due to COVID. Anne of Green Gables: A New Musical
Twin favorable reviews by the daily and Sunday critics of the New York Times prompted talks about taking it to Broadway, sometime next spring, via Los Angeles in the fall. The Goodspeed has curated another dream team that brings new life to this classic musical. Featuring epic tap numbers beyond compare, beautiful, bright-colored sets, opulent costumes, and phenomenal talent, you don't want to miss 42nd Street. Only seven productions reported figures to Variety; among the holdouts who never report are Los Angeles Theatre Center, the Pasadena Playhouse, the Westwood Playhouse and South Coast Repertory. Harmony Gold has already cultivated contacts that could help pave the way for its project. In recent months, the company has co-sponsored seminars, with Theatre LA and Mayor Tom Bradley, about media coverage of theater.

PLAN EXTRA TIME
March 18 will center on a staged reading of another new musical based on true events, The Great Emu War, with a book by Cal Silberstein and music and lyrics by Paul Hodge. The festival will come to a close March 19 with Little Miss Perfect, including the viral song of the same name, with book, music, and lyrics by Joriah Kwamé. Additional festival events, including seminars, symposiums, and cabarets, will be announced at a later date. In 1984, Goodspeed Musicals added a second performance venue—the Norma Terris Theatre—in nearby Chester, Connecticut, occasionally referred to as the Goodspeed-At-Chester. While the main stage presents a mixture of revivals and new musicals as part of its 3 production season, The Norma Terris presents exclusively new musicals each season. Several original musicals debuted there or at the opera house before going on to Broadway and winning Tony Awards.

The Chicken Coop Build
Without the frame around the edges, the floor only needs to be pulled out about a foot and the dirty coop materials are quickly swept into the run. A tractor coop is a chicken coop on wheels that is easily moved from place to place to provide chickens with a fresh patch of ground to feed and scratch in. These are great if you are looking for a way to use your chickens for aerating soil, but it is not for manicured lawns. Rubber wheels, lubricated bearings, and axles can degrade from exposure causing irreversible damage. So, only build a tractor if you plan to use it and maintain it.
How to Make Chicken Coop
Access to the coop for you should be a standard-sized door so that you don’t crack your head every time you enter. In warmer areas, more is better to maintain an ambient temperature in the coop. At temperatures over 90F, the chickens will start to be stressed, which leads to problems. Chicken wire is designed to keep chickens in but will not keep predators out. The easiest and most plentiful material for coop building is wood.

The plan incorporates natural branches to make roosts for the birds. On the front wall, there is also a large access door and window. This plan will help you create a tiny, 8 square foot chicken coop.
These plans are ideal for those with basic carpentry skills who are looking for a functional and secure chicken coop design that includes an attached run area. This would be great for a small backyard coop if you want to just have a few chickens with possible plans to grow up to ten chickens. It's a great option to have your own eggs for just your family, plus it is a really nice coop design. According to the seller, the chicken coop is designed to be easy to build and is suitable for those with basic carpentry skills. This specific diy chicken coop is designed to house to 8 to 15 chickens, depending on the size of the birds. The chicken house measures 8 x 8 feet, with an additional 4-foot nest boxes.
Whereas some chicken coops look like quaint little cottages, this one more resembles an apartment building. The Garden Coop’s loft houses 16 birds, and is 8 1/2 feet tall, and has ample room for you to get inside and tend to the flock. We like that the henhouse and the run are all contained and integrated, so there’s no need to let the birds in and out if they want to stretch their legs.
Additionally, since it is so easy to clean the coop, we do it more often and more thoroughly. This keeps infestations at bay and our chickens healthier. The cleanliness and lack of smell also keeps our neighborhood happier.
That’s because scenes that let viewers into the Brady residence were filmed on sets at Paramount Studios in Hollywood on Soundstage 5. HGTV’s reproduction of the fictional Brady house has mangled the real-deal, late-’50s split-level home designed by Harry M. Londelius. "As for Lance Bass, my brother from another mother, perhaps third time's a charm?" Brown said of the singer and podcast host's dream to own the classic home. The bedroom built to resemble the Brady brothers' room features a bunk bed and another bed, all decked out in blue bedspreads, while another bedroom for the Brady sisters includes three beds in matching pink bed linen. Trahan told "The Wall Street Journal" she plans on hosting charitable events and fundraisers at her new home, which she described as "a life-size dollhouse."
You can now live in 'The Brady Bunch' house for nearly $2 million
Because it was built in the home's basement instead of an attic, Roth and Williams had to paint the ceiling a dark color, install rafters, and even hang a fake window. By the end of the project, which also involved some cameos from the the former cast, HGTV had spent an additional $1.9 million. Situated on a sprawling 12,000 square-foot lot with citrus trees lining the yard, the space features soaring ceilings, big windows and sliding glass doors; which flood the home with natural light, according to the listing. The “Brady Bunch” house, renovated by HGTV, has sold for more than $2 million below its original asking price. "It’s crazy walking in feeling like it’s Stage 5 at Paramount," McCormick added.

Built in 1959, the mid-century modern home includes five bedrooms and five bathrooms across a total of 5,140 square feet. The renovation involved adding 2,000 square feet (including a full second story!) to the home's original footprint, constructing the iconic floating staircase, creating the burnt orange and avocado green kitchen, and designing the kids’ Jack and Jill bathroom. Outside, the backyard was outfitted with a swing set, teeter-totter, and Tiger’s dog house.

Before HGTV bought the home in 2018, NSYNC singer Lance Bass reportedly bid on the famous house and thought he had initially won the bid. “This whole show is filled with so much love,” Maureen McCormick, who played Marcia, told TODAY in 2019. Wood paneling and furniture was extremely popular during the era of "The Brady Bunch," and a lot of it was installed in the house for the final reveal. Wood paneling has made a comeback in today's homes, but with different hues and stains for a gentler look.
All of the action that takes place inside the house and in the garden was recorded on stage five at Paramount Studios in Hollywood. It was built in 1959 and shot to fame exactly a decade later when The Brady Bunch aired the first of its 117 episodes on ABC on September 26th, 1969. The network spent another $1.9 million to transform the house to resemble the home where America came to know Mike, Carol, Greg, Marcia, Peter, Jan, Bobby and Cindy Brady. HGTV added a second story to accommodate enough space for the rooms seen in the show. "HGTV spent about $5.5M+ purchasing and building the house which is why we listed it at $5.5M even though we knew it was an aspirational list price," Brown said in a statement. "HGTV did very well with 'The Very Brady Renovation' show and several other shows and ancillary revenue streams."
The online listing for the midcentury house invites buyers to “own a piece of pop culture history,” and shows images of its detailed and polished 5,000-square-foot interior, which includes five bedrooms and bathrooms. Located in Studio City, California, the home served as the exterior of the house in The Brady Bunch. In 2019, the network invested $1.9 million to transform the home as part of its series A Very Brady Renovation.
This gorgeous Craftsman-inspired ADU in Hollywood was once a rickety garage
The property is not open to the public and it doesn’t seem like it will be anytime soon. According to medium.com, A Very Brady Renovation is the highest-rated series in HGTV’s history with 3.36 million people tuning in for the opening episode alone. As you’ll see in tour videos available online, the house has also been made to feel lived in. There’s era-appropriate clothing hanging in the bedroom closets, plenty of nostalgic knick-knacks on nightstands, and colorful hairbrushes (I’m guessing ‘Marcia Marcia Marcia’s’) lined up next to the bathroom sink. However, though the exterior shot of the home is certainly one of the show’s most used and most recognizable, it’s the only one actually filmed here.
HGTV purchased the original Brady Bunch house back in 2018 for $3.5 million — paying almost double the asking price of $1,885,000. HGTV had quite the competition to beat, as the famous home drew lots of interested buyers, including a bid from former NSYNC band member Lance Bass. When the property hit the market in 2018, it was for the first time in 45 years — having not changed hands since 1973. The original asking price was $1.85 million and some speculated that it might be knocked down and redeveloped.

HGTV is selling the Studio City home pictured in hundreds of establishing shots on the famous sitcom not five years after purchasing it for $3.5 million. And given the competitive Los Angeles housing market and the dramatic changes the property’s undergone, it’s going to cost the next buyer a bit more. A Very Brady Renovation has officially come to an end, and although HGTV’s hit new show only had four episodes total, the series covered so much ground. To viewers, the top-to-bottom transformation of The Brady Bunch house was unveiled over a one-month period, but in reality, the ambitious project took six months and more than 9,000 work hours. Of course, none of it would have been possible without the six Brady kids—each one more than ready to pick up tools and share their knowledge of their years spent on the original set. Here’s exactly how The Brady Bunch cast left their imprint in the iconic Studio City home that’ll forever be part of TV history.
Its 90-minute premiere, on September 9, showcased the start of the home's renovation, and it's ridiculously spot-on—down to the seesaw in the backyard and the horse statue in the entryway. In the late ‘60s and early ‘70s, The Brady Bunch made viewers involuntarily hum its insanely catchy theme song, and nearly 50 years later, the iconic show has stirred up nostalgic feelings with HGTV's A Very Brady Renovation. In August 2018, HGTV purchased the house—located at Dilling Street in Studio City, California through Douglas Elliman Real Estate—and fully transformed it into a replica of the original TV set that once stood at Paramount Studios. Though they are seen hammering and painting at high speeds when the show fast-forwards through construction scenes. There are, presumably, a lot of people on the screen, because it required 9,000 hours of work to transform the two-bedroom, split-level house in Studio City into the four-bedroom, two-story house with a den familiar to viewers of the show.
The five-bedroom, five-bathroom Los Angeles suburbs home was listed for $5.5 million by HGTV, which bought the property in 2018. In 2019, the network launched its series, "A Very Brady Renovation," to show the home's transformation. HGTV stars, like Drew and Jonathan Scott of The Property Brothers, took part in completing the flipping of the home.
